OUR MISSION
Finding connection can be a challenge in a big city – but nothing really seems to bring people together like a good bottle of wine or a great meal in a place that encourages you to let loose and be taken care of. Roscioli NYC is the best way we know how to bring the essence of Rome here. 43 MacDougal St. is our own little oasis to pass around a glass, share a plate of pasta and exchange ideas that expand further than our day to day lives.
Roscioli Rome
Roscioli is a Roman institution, both with locals and visitors from around the world, with close to 200 years of history.
You’ll find four unique locations within the Eternal City, all of which are renowned for their artisan Italian products and industry leading approach to hospitality.
It all began in 1974 with Antico Forno Roscioli, located in one of the oldest bakeries in the city dating to 1824. Famed not only for its bread, the Forno is the go-to place for Roman street food such as supplì and pizza al taglio.
Twenty years later, Salumeria Roscioli, the deli, opened and revolutionized the restaurant world when they added a kitchen. Endless research goes into sourcing only the finest ingredients. Today it’s known worldwide for the famous carbonara, nearly 300 artisan cheeses, 150 cured meats and over 3,000 wine labels in the cellar.
Rimessa Roscioli, born from wine tasting and pairing experiences, is also a full restaurant with a convivial spirit, a focus on wine and storytelling, and other experiences like cooking classes, EVOO tastings, and a world-class wine club featuring artisan Italian wines.
Finally, just a few meters away is Roscioli Caffè, the perfect place for a quick coffee at the bar like a true Roman, paired with something sweet from their patisserie selections.
THE ROSCIOLI FAMILY STORY
Roscioli is a family that, for four generations, has worked in the world of hospitality, food, and wine. It all started with the bakery on Via dei Chiavari. Then our set-up developed with the grocer on Via Giubbonari, which we now know as Ristorante Salumeria Roscioli. Antico Forno Roscioli is one of the historic brands of Rome; certificates have been recovered that attest to its presence in the Regola district since the first half of the 1800s.
A papal edict arranged for the establishment of a bakery that would sell bread at affordable prices to people with limited financial ability right on Via dei Chiavari, and the Vatican census dated August 17th, 1824 confirms it all.
Roscioli today is still a family: Alessandro and Pierluigi, two brothers who carry on the tradition, not allowing it to disappear as a custom of the past, but keeping it with the times, anticipating today’s food and wine needs, and focusing, with great passion, on the high quality of their selections.
